Sip, Savor, & Socialize: Elevate Your Evening with These 3 Low ABV Sparkling Wine Cocktails

April 3, 2024

In the realm of cocktails, there’s a rising star that’s gaining popularity for its refreshing and sophisticated appeal: low ABV (Alcohol by Volume) cocktails crafted with sparkling wines. Perfect for those seeking a lighter libation without compromising on taste or style, these effervescent concoctions are a delightful way to elevate any gathering. Join us as we explore the world of low ABV cocktails featuring sparkling wines, offering both indulgence and moderation in every sip.

Why Low ABV Sparkling Wine Cocktails?

Low ABV cocktails have been steadily gaining traction in recent years, catering to a more health-conscious and mindful drinking culture. With people seeking balance and moderation in their imbibing habits, these cocktails provide a perfect solution. Sparkling wines, with their effervescence and diverse flavor profiles, lend themselves beautifully to crafting low ABV cocktails. Not only do they offer a lower alcohol content, but they also bring a burst of freshness and elegance to the glass.

Benefits of Low ABV Sparkling Wine Cocktails:

  • Moderation: With lower alcohol content, you can enjoy more cocktails without the worry of overindulgence.
  • Versatility: Sparkling wines come in various styles, allowing for endless creativity in cocktail crafting.
  • Refreshment: The effervescence of sparkling wine adds a crisp and invigorating element to cocktails, perfect for any occasion.
  • Flavor Complexity: Sparkling wines offer a spectrum of flavors, from fruity to floral, enhancing the depth of cocktail profiles.

What are the different types of sparkling wines?

First, you might ask, what’s the difference between sparkling wine and champagne…  here’s a couple facts to provide some insights:

  1. Sparkling wine can only be called Champagne if it comes from the region of Champagne, France which is located just outside of Paris.
  2. Furthermore, Champagne can only be made using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.
  3. To clarify, all Champagne is sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine is Champagne. We really should think of Champagne in terms of a geographical location as opposed to a winemaking style.

What is the best type of sparkling wine to use for spritzer cocktails?

If you are looking to splurge, then might we suggest Lanson, or Veuve.

If you are looking for a cheaper wine and/or a sweeter profile, then italian prosecco or spanish cava are great options.

When you want a more traditional style, imagery, and quality of French champagne, but don’t want to spend a fortune, then we suggest affordable French sparkling wines and cremants, like Le Grand Courtâge sparkling wines Blanc de Blancs Brut and Brut Rosé.

Female-founded, award-winning, made-in-France, and each scoring 90+ points, these luxury sparkling wines were created to provide an affordable alternative to champagne, to elevate and celebrate everyday moments!

Our philosophy, why buy Veuve when you can get two?!

Sparkling Cocktails For Holiday Season & New Year’s Eve Parties ( & Low Alc Modifications)

November 28, 2023

Sparkling wine adds a touch of festivity to any occasion, making it a popular choice during the holidays for several reasons. Firstly, the effervescence and bubbles create a celebratory ambiance, elevating the mood of any gathering. The popping sound of a cork and the fizz of bubbles add an element of excitement and joy to the festivities.

Moreover, the versatility of sparkling wine allows it to pair well with a wide range of holiday foods, from appetizers to main courses and desserts. Its acidity and bubbles can cleanse the palate between bites, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The tradition of toasting with sparkling wine also adds a special ritualistic element to holiday gatherings, symbolizing well-wishes, celebrations, and the coming together of friends and family.

Ultimately, while there’s no strict rule about drinking sparkling wine exclusively during the holidays, its inherent celebratory nature and ability to complement various foods make it a popular choice for festive occasions.

Pre-batch and put in the 187ml “mini” sparkling wine bottles  to keep the bubbles fresh and make something festive.

How to Pre batch cocktails In “Mini” Bottles

  1. Pour out the sparkling wine (or a portion of it) and then add the ingredients and reseal.
  2. Open mini wine bottle carefully to keep the foil mostly intact (and looking nice for display later.) You can use the tiny knife on a wine key/opener and use that to “cut” the foil just below the screw cap.  (See image for cut line)
  3. Then simply twist to unscrew, make the cocktail and then voila, reseal for something fun & festive

Rosé Cocktails For Fall & Winter Parties | Wines For The Holidays & Best Winter Cocktail Recipes

October 17, 2023

An unexpected and expert wine hack for fall & winter seasons: rosé wines for food pairing, party pouring, & mixing delicious wine cocktails for the holidays during the cooler months! Why do rosé wines make the best winter drinks? Because of their versatility! French Rosé is not just a summer drink. The French even have an expression which translates to “rosé all year” or “rosé tout l’année”. The reality is that rosé goes great with a variety of flavors, as rosé has enough structure and body to stand up to heavier dishes without overwhelming more delicate ones. Ideal for summer, but rosé wines are just as good with pizzas, Thanksgiving dinner, or favorite Holiday party foods. Read on for more on why rosé is a perfect fall and winter wine.

But first: The Do’s & Don’ts Of  Drinking Rosé

Mix it

If you’re having a hard time drinking rosé on its own, then you should know that rosé makes for a great base and addition to cocktails. Most rosés have signature flavors of berries, floral, and melons, all of which are great bases to help complement spritzes and sour cocktails. The dryness, fruit and acidity make for a perfect balance to many spirits.

Don’t overpay

A great rosé doesn’t have to come with a high price tag. $15-$20 is the fastest growing segment across all wine sales – Nielson 2017. And trust us, there is no shortage of quality wine within this price range. Priced at under $25 retail, Très Chic rosé is an affordable, everyday rosé with an elegant, yet approachable label.

Drink it all year

Rosé is a versatile wine, which makes it a great aperitif & pairing with food. Rosé offers the best of both worlds as it has white wine structure and red wine flavors, so it can be as light or intense as wanted when pairing. It’s the perfect ‘in between’ wine because of its added structure and complexity yet subtle, clean finish. It also makes for a good ‘white wine alternative’ for typically red wine-leaning drinkers.

More On Rosé All Year:  “Rosé’s hybrid personality makes it a great food partner. It’s crisp and clean, with lots of flavor and enough backbone to stand up to everything on your menu. And those are just a few of the reasons a dry rosé has what it takes to be the star of your Thanksgiving celebration.” Adam Centamore, Author of Tasting Wine and Cheese: An Insider’s Guide to Mastering the Principles of Pairing

Best Thanksgiving Wine For Pouring, Pairing, & Fall Cocktail Mixing | Eight Reasons Rosé Shines In Autumn

October 9, 2023

Elevate your Thanksgiving dinner! Serving rosé wine at Thanksgiving is a delightful choice, even though  it might not be the most traditional option as it is often thought of as a summer beverage. But the truth is, rosé is an amazing pairing with the savory, comfort dishes we love in fall and winter – especially during the holidays!

Here are eight reasons why the best modern hostesses serve rosé wine at Thanksgiving dinner:

  • Versatility: Rosé wines are known for their versatility. They typically have a balanced acidity and a wide range of flavor profiles, making them suitable for pairing with various Thanksgiving dishes. Whether you’re enjoying turkey, ham, stuffing, or cranberry sauce, rosé can complement a variety of flavors.
  • Temperature: Thanksgiving often involves a mix of hot and cold dishes. Rosé wine is typically served chilled, which can be refreshing alongside warmer dishes. It can also be a good option if you’re dining in a warmer climate or in a heated room where red wines might feel too heavy.
  • Palate Cleanser: Rosé’s crisp and refreshing qualities can act as a palate cleanser between bites of rich and savory Thanksgiving foods. This can help refresh your taste buds and enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Personal Preference: Ultimately, wine choices often come down to personal preference. If you and your guests enjoy rosé wine, there’s no reason not to include it on your Thanksgiving table. We call it a perfect in-between wine as it often has a little more structure than white wines, and is lighter bodied than reds so it’s an ideal option for a crowd.
  • Refreshing and Crisp: Thanksgiving meals can be quite rich and heavy with dishes like roast turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. A chilled glass of rosé wine can provide a refreshing contrast, cleansing your palate between bites and helping to balance the flavors.
  • Pleasant Aromatics: Many rosé wines offer a bouquet of fruity and floral aromas, which can be appealing and inviting for your guests. These aromatics can add an extra layer of complexity to your Thanksgiving experience.
  • Crowd-Pleaser: Rosé wine tends to be well-received by a wide range of wine drinkers, making it a safe choice if you’re unsure of your guests’ wine preferences. It’s often associated with celebration and relaxation, making it a good fit for a holiday gathering.
  • Seasonal Appeal: Depending on the style of rosé you choose, it can have hints of summer fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and grapefruit. This can evoke a sense of nostalgia for the warmer months, which can be a pleasant contrast to the cooler fall weather.
  • Visual Appeal: The beautiful pink color of rosé wine can add a visually appealing element to your Thanksgiving table, enhancing the overall dining experience.

While rosé might not seem the most traditional choice for Thanksgiving, where red and white wines are more commonly served, there’s no strict rule about what wine to pair with your meal. The most important thing is to choose wines that you and your guests will enjoy. If you want to experiment and add a modern twist to your Thanksgiving celebration, serving rosé can be a delightful and unexpected choice.

Both Le Grand Courtâge Brut Rosé & our French, Provence style Très Chic Rosé score over 90 points and a great value at under $25, making them a great choice for bringing to family Thanksgivings when seeking award winning and affordable wines!

Brut Rosé contains Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc & Gamay, which is ideal for Fall faire and Thansgiving

Très Chic Rosé offers grenache and consault which is lovely with the range of flavors.

Want to learn more? Here’s more on why rosé is perfect for fall and winter soirées.

We’re committed to serving up the best and easiest ways to cultivate JOY in the everyday moments, especially during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Which is why we’ve put together several resources to make this holiday season a breeze, with more time around the table with friends and family.

Mimosa FAQs ( Frequently Asked Questions)

What is the best champagne or sparkling wine for Mimosas?

First, you might ask, what’s the difference between sparkling wine and champagne…  here’s a couple facts to provide some insights:

  1. Sparkling wine can only be called Champagne if it comes from the region of Champagne, France which is located just outside of Paris.
  2. Furthermore, Champagne can only be made using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.
  3. To clarify, all Champagne is sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine is Champagne. We really should think of Champagne in terms of a geographical location as opposed to a winemaking style.

So what type of sparkling wine is best for your brunch mimosas?

There are a few things to consider when choosing the best sparkling wine for mimosas and other sparkling wine and champagne cocktails. Read our thoughts, here!

We are most excited to share our Rosé Champagne and Floral sprinkles Cocktail Recipe with you. This drink is even prettier than it is sweet. It’s a perfect drink to share with your guests.

Ingredients

12 oz Le Grand Courtâge Brut Rosé
12 oz Grapefruit juice
6 oz Vodka
½ oz of Mint simple syrup
Edible flowers for petal garnishes

Combine the vodka, grapefruit juice, Brut Rosé, and simple syrup and shake over ice until chilled, then strain and fill glasses. Top with flower petals for an elegant and chic finish.

Where To Buy Edible Flower Petal Garnishes

To make these drinks beautiful and presentable to your guests, we need flower petal garnishes that are edible.

We got our edible flowers at our local grocery store in the produce section (next to the herbs).

In this article you will find different edible florals, to help guide you with how to properly clean them, how to choose different variations, and other practical tips that you can follow.

Store-bought versions that you may find in the produce section should also be properly cleaned and rinsed before you use them in any edible elements.

For more floral cocktail inspirations I highly recommend you check out Bri of Designlovefest and the cocktail post.  She used edible flowers in her cocktail drinks as well or combine them with this cake, and die of floral happiness.

Consuming Edible Florals

We highly advise you to follow the proper instructions for edible florals closely. If you already suffer from chronic allergies, be careful and cautious about consuming the florals.

Adding these beautiful edible flowers to your drinks will really impress your guests and yourself!
