April 3, 2024

In the realm of cocktails, there’s a rising star that’s gaining popularity for its refreshing and sophisticated appeal: low ABV (Alcohol by Volume) cocktails crafted with sparkling wines. Perfect for those seeking a lighter libation without compromising on taste or style, these effervescent concoctions are a delightful way to elevate any gathering. Join us as we explore the world of low ABV cocktails featuring sparkling wines, offering both indulgence and moderation in every sip.

Why Low ABV Sparkling Wine Cocktails?

Low ABV cocktails have been steadily gaining traction in recent years, catering to a more health-conscious and mindful drinking culture. With people seeking balance and moderation in their imbibing habits, these cocktails provide a perfect solution. Sparkling wines, with their effervescence and diverse flavor profiles, lend themselves beautifully to crafting low ABV cocktails. Not only do they offer a lower alcohol content, but they also bring a burst of freshness and elegance to the glass.

Benefits of Low ABV Sparkling Wine Cocktails:

  • Moderation: With lower alcohol content, you can enjoy more cocktails without the worry of overindulgence.
  • Versatility: Sparkling wines come in various styles, allowing for endless creativity in cocktail crafting.
  • Refreshment: The effervescence of sparkling wine adds a crisp and invigorating element to cocktails, perfect for any occasion.
  • Flavor Complexity: Sparkling wines offer a spectrum of flavors, from fruity to floral, enhancing the depth of cocktail profiles.

What are the different types of sparkling wines?

First, you might ask, what’s the difference between sparkling wine and champagne…  here’s a couple facts to provide some insights:

  1. Sparkling wine can only be called Champagne if it comes from the region of Champagne, France which is located just outside of Paris.
  2. Furthermore, Champagne can only be made using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.
  3. To clarify, all Champagne is sparkling wine, but not all sparkling wine is Champagne. We really should think of Champagne in terms of a geographical location as opposed to a winemaking style.

What is the best type of sparkling wine to use for spritzer cocktails?

If you are looking to splurge, then might we suggest Lanson, or Veuve.

If you are looking for a cheaper wine and/or a sweeter profile, then italian prosecco or spanish cava are great options.

When you want a more traditional style, imagery, and quality of French champagne, but don’t want to spend a fortune, then we suggest affordable French sparkling wines and cremants, like Le Grand Courtâge sparkling wines Blanc de Blancs Brut and Brut Rosé.

Female-founded, award-winning, made-in-France, and each scoring 90+ points, these luxury sparkling wines were created to provide an affordable alternative to champagne, to elevate and celebrate everyday moments!

Brunch: The Rise of the New Dinner Party Experience + 3 Tips For Bubbly Brunch Entertaining

March 11, 2024

Many are calling brunch ‘the new dinner party”.  In recent years, a cultural shift has emerged, transforming the traditional dinner party into a vibrant, relaxed gathering known as brunch. Brunch, a fusion of breakfast and lunch, has transcended its morning origins to become a favored social affair, offering a unique blend of culinary delights, leisurely ambiance, and social interaction.

Here’s why brunch has become the new dinner party and why it’s gaining momentum in today’s social scene.

1. Lifestyle Flexibility

Unlike dinner parties that typically occur in the evening, brunch offers a more flexible timing. With busy schedules and diverse commitments, people find it easier to allocate time during late mornings or early afternoons. This flexibility accommodates various lifestyles, whether it’s families with young children, professionals with demanding careers, or individuals juggling multiple commitments.

2. Culinary Diversity

Brunch menus boast a diverse array of dishes, blending breakfast favorites like eggs Benedict, pancakes, and avocado toast with heartier lunch options such as salads, sandwiches, and pastas. This culinary diversity caters to different tastes and dietary preferences, ensuring there’s something for everyone at the table. Moreover, the relaxed atmosphere of brunch encourages experimentation with creative and unconventional recipes, making it an exciting culinary experience.

3. Social Atmosphere

Brunch fosters a convivial atmosphere conducive to socializing and bonding. Unlike formal dinner parties, which may carry an air of sophistication and etiquette, brunch gatherings exude a laid-back vibe, encouraging guests to unwind, engage in meaningful conversations, and forge connections. Whether it’s catching up with friends, networking with colleagues, or celebrating special occasions, brunch provides an ideal setting for fostering relationships in a casual yet intimate environment.

4. Daylight Setting

One of the distinguishing features of brunch is its daylight setting, which adds a refreshing dimension to social gatherings. Unlike dinner parties that often take place under artificial lighting, brunch allows guests to bask in natural sunlight, creating a cheerful and uplifting ambiance. This daytime setting not only enhances the mood but also offers opportunities for outdoor brunches, whether it’s in a garden, patio, or rooftop terrace, amplifying the sensory experience and fostering a deeper connection with nature.

5. Versatility in Beverages

Brunch wouldn’t be complete without its signature beverages, ranging from classic mimosas and Bloody Marys to artisanal coffee blends and herbal teas. The versatility in beverage options adds an element of indulgence and sophistication to the brunch experience, allowing guests to customize their drinks according to their preferences. Additionally, brunch presents an opportunity to explore creative cocktail concoctions and non-alcoholic alternatives, catering to diverse tastes and enhancing the overall dining experience.

6. Embrace of Informality

In a world where formality often prevails, brunch celebrates informality and relaxation. Guests can dress comfortably, eschewing formal attire in favor of casual chic or even loungewear. This relaxed dress code sets the tone for a laid-back gathering where guests can let their guard down, be themselves, and enjoy the company of others without pretense or formality.

7. Special Occasion Brunches

BRIDAL BRUNCHES & BABY SHOWERS are moving away from old-school “luncheons” and moving towards an elevated brunch party. Even bachelorette weekend itineraries often include a brunch or two! (Time to celebrate the bride or mom-to-be! 187ml mini bottles of blanc de blancs or brut rosé are a crowd pleaser as place settings, for mimosa mixing, or as the perfect takeaway favor for guests!)

In conclusion, brunch has emerged as the new dinner party, offering a delightful fusion of culinary delights, social interaction, and leisurely ambiance. With its lifestyle flexibility, culinary diversity, social atmosphere, daylight setting, versatile beverages, and embrace of informality, brunch has captured the hearts and palates of individuals seeking meaningful connections and memorable experiences. So, the next time you plan a social gathering, consider hosting a brunch—it’s a trend that’s here to stay.

Why Champagne Is Not Just For NYE & High Style Moments!

Pop Fizz Clink – the universal sound of HAPPY! Sparkling wines are not just for big celebrations and New Year’s Eve!

Manifest JOY by keeping the sparkling wine and rosé chilling to elevate the everyday moments and #lifejoyously.

Here are our favorite reasons to have champagne (or more affordable, top quality champagne alternatives like our French brut & brut rosé) and rosé on hand for pouring, pairing, mixing, entertaining, and romanticizing life!

  1. Foolproof Food & Wine Pairing. Sparkling wines and rosé are the best pairing wines – making food pairings easy breezy. They are especially great for hostesses everywhere because of their versatile pairing ability. Truly amazing breakfast through dessert – bubbly is the perfect pairing choice. Perfect as hostess gifts, edible party favors, and a welcome addition to gift baskets and boxes for clients or bridal party assortments. Rosé is another great option for easy wine and food pairing as well as it’s “in between” red and white. Food friendly and versatile, it’s light enough for the white wine drinker and has a softer profile. For the red wine drinker, it has more structure than white.
  2. Create Delicious Fizzy Cocktails. More than just the mimosa! Taste the stars and add a splash of bubbles to your libations! Refreshing and light, champagnes, bubbly white wines, and sparkling rosé take cocktails to the next level which is why they make amazing aperitifs. Take the guesswork out of mixing sparkling cocktails! We’ve created a collection of resources featuring all our favorite things: dozens of delicious cocktail recipes, effortless entertaining ideas, brunch and bridal season look books, even a list of our favorite playlists to really get the party going! Click here to download our free rosé and sparkling cocktail recipe ebooks that make at-home cocktail mixing & entertaining effortless.
  3. Inclusive Wines For All. Dietary restrictions and lifestyle choices don’t stop the party! Low Carbohydrate (2g per serving), Low Calorie (Less than 100 calories per serving!),  and Vegan friendly, every (21+) adult at the gathering can partake in the celebration.
  4. Elevate Everyday Moments. Save the champagne for big events? No thanks! LIFE is the occasion. Downhome movie nights and casual picnics or upscale bridal events, upgrade ordinary to extraordinary with affordable, accessible, award-winning French wines to romanticize the small moments of joy that happen in the day-to-day of our lives.

Light, versatile, and perfect for cocktails, these wines do it all!

December 4, 2023

Elevated date night, put a little JOY in your next date night. Whether going out or staying in, elevate your date by making simple upgrades to make the most of your quality time together. Le Grand Courtâge, Meaning “The Great Courtship”  our mission is all about bringing people to share food, wine, and laughter. We aim to be the best 15 minutes of someone’s day; inspiring them to celebrate life and cultivate joy in simple ways… because it’s the everyday moments in life that really matter.

For more elevated date night in ideas, head here to our full blog post here.

Fun ideas for a champagne themed date night

Planning a special date night with Champagne can be romantic and memorable. Here are some ideas to make it wonderful:

  • Champagne Tasting: Explore different types of Champagne or sparkling wines together. Pick a variety like Brut, Rosé, or Blanc de Blancs (ours each score 90+ points & named Wine Enthusiast BEST BUYS!) . Create a mini-tasting with small pours to compare flavors and notes.
  • DIY Champagne Cocktails: Experiment with creating your own Champagne cocktails. Try mixing Champagne with different fruit juices, liqueurs, or garnishes. Classic options like mimosas or French 75s are a great start.
  • Sunset Picnic: Head to the backyard or porch with a picnic basket filled with Champagne, cheeses, fruits, and some pastries. Enjoy the view and each other’s company as the sun sets.
  • Candlelit Dinner: Prepare a romantic dinner together or order in from your favorite restaurant. Pair the meal with Champagne to add a touch of elegance. Consider dishes like seafood, poultry, or pasta that complement the wine.
  • Champagne and Chocolate Pairing: Purchase a selection of high-quality chocolates with various percentages of cocoa and pair them with Champagne. Dark chocolate tends to pair wonderfully with the effervescence of Champagne.
  • Bubble Bath and Champagne: Set up a relaxing bubble bath with candles and soft music. Enjoy a glass of Champagne together while you unwind and spend quality time.
  • Stargazing with Bubbly: Find a cozy spot, perhaps in your backyard or at a nearby observatory, and bring along a bottle of Champagne. Toast to each other under the stars and enjoy the serenity of the night sky.
  • Champagne Dessert: Create a dessert that incorporates sparkling wine, such as Champagne cupcakes, berries soaked in Champagne, or a Champagne-infused sorbet.

Remember, the essence of a great date night is the connection and shared experience. Whether it’s a lavish dinner or a simple evening under the stars, the goal is to enjoy each other’s company and create beautiful memories. Cheers to a fantastic date night!

ROMANTIC CHARCUTERIE & WINE PAIRING

Champagne and sparkling wine are really one of the most versatile wines for food as it contains high levels of acidity and a small amount of sugar. The two extremes complement elements in almost any food, from tame poached salmon to red-hot Thai food. Often referred to as the scrubbing bubbles for your palate as it cleanses the tongue and balance

Spritzy bubbles refresh the palate that acts as a cleanser (aka the scrubbing bubbles for the palate), getting you ready for the next burst of flavor. Bubbles work particularly well with fried and spicy foods, helping to cut through the fat and tame heat.

Champagne or sparkling wine has racy acidity, and that trait is very food friendly as it is balanced by fat, salt, and sweet flavors. The acid in bubbly balances out salty foods well, making it a classic pairing for oysters and any sort of snacky foods like salted nuts, french fries, and popcorn.

We suggest considering some decadent items on your Champagne Charcuterie Board and make sure it is laden with some exceptional items, from the chicken and veal pâté, prosciutto di Parma to the creamy goat cheese the warm chestnut infused honey – or savory cheese fondue for some real French-flare.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE A CHAMPAGNE CHARCUTERIE GRAZING BOARD

Here are some ideas:

  • Cheeses: Select a variety of cheeses such as brie, camembert, aged cheddar, gouda, or goat cheese. Soft, creamy cheeses like brie complement the effervescence of Champagne.
  • Cured Meats: Prosciutto, salami, chorizo, and thinly sliced Serrano ham are excellent choices. The saltiness of these meats contrasts nicely with the wine’s acidity.
  • Fruits: Fresh and dried fruits add a sweet and tangy element. Consider grapes, figs, strawberries, and slices of apple or pear. Dried apricots and dates work wonderfully too.
  • Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, and cashews bring a crunchy texture and nutty flavor that complements both the wine and the meats.
  • Olives: Green and black olives offer a savory and briny addition. Choose a variety like Kalamata or Castelvetrano for diverse flavors.
  • Honey and Jams: Drizzle honey over the cheese or use fruit jams like fig or raspberry to add a touch of sweetness.
  • Bread and Crackers: Include a selection of artisanal bread, breadsticks, and crackers. Whole-grain options, baguette slices, and crackers with seeds or herbs can enhance the overall experience.
  • Pickles and Preserves: Cornichons, pickled onions, or pickled vegetables like carrots and cauliflower add a tangy contrast to the richness of the cheese and meats.
  • Pâté or Terrine: Consider adding a smooth and flavorful pâté or terrine to the board for a luxurious touch. Chicken liver pâté or a rustic terrine can be delightful options.
  • Chocolate: Finish off with some high-quality dark chocolate. Its richness pairs surprisingly well with Champagne, especially if it has berry or citrus notes.

Remember to arrange these items aesthetically on a wooden board or slate to create an inviting and visually appealing spread. The combination of savory, sweet, and salty flavors will complement the Champagne or sparkling wine beautifully, creating a memorable date night experience.

Head here for our full blog post on our top pairings for sparkling wines.

HOW TO KNOW WHAT SORT OF SPARKLING WINE OR CHAMPAGNE TO SERVE?

Like any wine, Champagnes range from sweet to dry. Here are the labels to look for:

  • Demi-sec – The sweetest of Champagnes, but not as sweet as a dessert wine. It means “half sweet.”
  • Dry – A shade drier than demi-sec.
  • Extra dry – One-step drier.
  • Brut – The driest form, and the most typical/popular.

Some styles

  • Blanc de Blancs is made only with white grapes. It generally goes well with lighter foods, such as seafood and vegetables. Also good as a pre-dinner aperitif.
  • Blanc de Noirs, made solely from red Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes, with a deeper golden color than the Blanc de Blancs. It makes a great pairing with full-flavored or rich foods.
  • Rosé. The color comes from the addition of Pinot Noir wine at the second fermentation, the point at which still wine becomes Champagne. This type is one of the best to have with dinner, according to Ed McCarthy, author of Champagne for Dummies.

Add a little luxury to your next occasion and always embody that champagne state of mind!

Win A Trip To Paris + Taylor Swift Eras Tickets + Guide To Exploring Paris

November 8, 2023

Having attended a sparkling night at the Eras last show in Los Angeles, we were wonderstruck by Taylor’s artistry, stamina, business savvy, constant evolution, generosity, and the public stance she has taken on key issues. What we experienced in LA was a heartfelt evening centered around connection and inclusion. To witness how Taylor wins with her vulnerability, keeps shattering industry records, and embodies both feminine energy and power, is nothing short of phenomenal! We want to celebrate her – and you – together in Paris where Le Grand Courtage all started.

Taylor Swift is only 33 years old and this year she has broken (shattered) so many records. Taylor now has 13 #1 albums with the re-release of 1989 last week, achieved Billionaire status and even in this past year held all 10 slots of the Billboard Hot 100. Further, “Midnights” and the July release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” round out the top-three-selling albums in 2023. AND…. Taylor is also Spotify’s most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify’s history when “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” was released on October 27. Everything she touches turns to gold, but it is not without tremendous work and brilliance on her and her teams part. We raise a glass to Taylor, Tree Paine, her parents, and the amazing team that have created a phenomenal sight to behold.

Now it’s time for us to celebrate together, and we have something incredible planned! We’re giving away 2 tickets to see Taylor Swift in concert at the Paris Eras Tour, May 12, 2024. Looking for more reasons to sign up? Here’s the lowdown on everything you need to know about Paris, the venue, and navigation. Between visiting monuments and museums, to eating delicious French food, there’s plenty to do while you wait for the night of the big show, so start preparing now!

WHY PARIS?

Having lived in Paris, our owner and founder, Tawnya has spent a lot of time compiling resources and guides for visiting the City of Lights. Le Grand Courtâge was even born out of Tawnya’s love for the light, crisp, and refreshing French wine style! When the opportunity arose for us to give our fans, customers, and anyone else the chance to take a relaxing trip (and see Taylor Swift of course), Paris was the obvious choice. So why Paris? Vive La France, of course!

Getting Around

One of the most important things to keep in mind when exploring Paris is to wear comfortable shoes. The city is best explored on foot, and it’s easy to get lost in its winding streets. Don’t worry about remembering the names of the places you visit. Exploring until you get lost is part of the magic of visiting Paris. Your best bet will be to keep this article handy on your phone the whole time, because we’re about to give you a list of the best things to do in Paris, and how to find them.

What if I Don’t Speak French?

No problem! Nearly 60% of French residents are able to speak at least basic English, meaning sometimes all you need to do is ask around a bit, and you’re bound to find someone who can help you out.

If that’s not enough, here is a list of basic French phrases you can memorize to get things like directions, say hello, and of course, order a glass of wine!

Hello: Salut
A glass of wine: Un verre de vin
A coffee: Un café
Water: Eau
Do you speak English: Parlez-vous anglais?
I’m lost: Je suis perdu(e), adding an e if you identify as female.
I’m sorry: Je suis désolé(e)

Monuments, Museums, and Parks

If there is one thing Paris is known for, it’s for incredible architecture, art, and outdoor spaces. Here’s everything you need to know about seeing the best the City of Lights has to offer.

First, off, there are plenty of handy reference maps like this Paris monument map, this Paris museum map, and of course this Paris garden map.

From the Eiffel Tower and Louvre to Luxembourg Gardens, to famous art museums like Musée d’Orsay and the Centre Pompidou, you’ll be able to find whatever attraction you want to see most. Just keep this page bookmarked on your phone, and you’ll always have something fun planned!

Eras Tour Paris: The Venue

The concert is being held at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, a western suburb of Paris. With a seating capacity of 40,000, it’s a good-sized stadium, but not nearly as overwhelming as some of Taylor’s other recent venues like Lumen Field, which drew over 70,000 attendees.

The La Défense Arena has played host to the likes of The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Imagine Dragons, to name a few. So make sure you cross this venue off your destination list, because it has some rich history to it!

Here’s a handy guide to navigating the venue, as well as solutions for parking, ridesharing, and getting there on foot.

Are You Ready For It?

We sure are! If you’re looking for the perfect place to start planning for your trip, get insider knowledge of Paris and the venue, and of course get all the info you need to increase your chances of winning, you’ve found it. Add this guide to your list of references for your trip, and we guarantee you’ll get the best experience possible! Bonne chance to you all!

Best Thanksgiving Wine For Pouring, Pairing, & Fall Cocktail Mixing | Eight Reasons Rosé Shines In Autumn

October 9, 2023

Elevate your Thanksgiving dinner! Serving rosé wine at Thanksgiving is a delightful choice, even though  it might not be the most traditional option as it is often thought of as a summer beverage. But the truth is, rosé is an amazing pairing with the savory, comfort dishes we love in fall and winter – especially during the holidays!

Here are eight reasons why the best modern hostesses serve rosé wine at Thanksgiving dinner:

  • Versatility: Rosé wines are known for their versatility. They typically have a balanced acidity and a wide range of flavor profiles, making them suitable for pairing with various Thanksgiving dishes. Whether you’re enjoying turkey, ham, stuffing, or cranberry sauce, rosé can complement a variety of flavors.
  • Temperature: Thanksgiving often involves a mix of hot and cold dishes. Rosé wine is typically served chilled, which can be refreshing alongside warmer dishes. It can also be a good option if you’re dining in a warmer climate or in a heated room where red wines might feel too heavy.
  • Palate Cleanser: Rosé’s crisp and refreshing qualities can act as a palate cleanser between bites of rich and savory Thanksgiving foods. This can help refresh your taste buds and enhance the overall dining experience.
  • Personal Preference: Ultimately, wine choices often come down to personal preference. If you and your guests enjoy rosé wine, there’s no reason not to include it on your Thanksgiving table. We call it a perfect in-between wine as it often has a little more structure than white wines, and is lighter bodied than reds so it’s an ideal option for a crowd.
  • Refreshing and Crisp: Thanksgiving meals can be quite rich and heavy with dishes like roast turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. A chilled glass of rosé wine can provide a refreshing contrast, cleansing your palate between bites and helping to balance the flavors.
  • Pleasant Aromatics: Many rosé wines offer a bouquet of fruity and floral aromas, which can be appealing and inviting for your guests. These aromatics can add an extra layer of complexity to your Thanksgiving experience.
  • Crowd-Pleaser: Rosé wine tends to be well-received by a wide range of wine drinkers, making it a safe choice if you’re unsure of your guests’ wine preferences. It’s often associated with celebration and relaxation, making it a good fit for a holiday gathering.
  • Seasonal Appeal: Depending on the style of rosé you choose, it can have hints of summer fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and grapefruit. This can evoke a sense of nostalgia for the warmer months, which can be a pleasant contrast to the cooler fall weather.
  • Visual Appeal: The beautiful pink color of rosé wine can add a visually appealing element to your Thanksgiving table, enhancing the overall dining experience.

While rosé might not seem the most traditional choice for Thanksgiving, where red and white wines are more commonly served, there’s no strict rule about what wine to pair with your meal. The most important thing is to choose wines that you and your guests will enjoy. If you want to experiment and add a modern twist to your Thanksgiving celebration, serving rosé can be a delightful and unexpected choice.

Our woman-owned, women managed wines are perfect Breakfast to Dessert, and are delicious on their own, as a food pairing, an aperitif &/or for cocktails.   For us it is about maintaining a ‘champagne state of mind’ &/or living through ‘rosé colored glasses’, much like Emily and all her friends.

While the wines are fabulous on their own, we also love a sparkling drink or ‘champagne’ cocktail to elevate any occasion. Read on for more Taylor Swift Inspired Cocktail Recipes:
